Alter European Society for Disability Research

 

Alter ESDR is an international learned society dedicated to the advancement of interdisciplinary research in social sciences and humanities in the area of disabilities. Particular emphasis is placed on the plurality of scientific approaches and knowledge (theoretical, applied, grounded on the experience of disability) provided by this research area.

 

Established with a focus on Europe, the society welcomes scholars in the international scientific community. Alter ESDR welcomes all having an interest in disability research, without exception or particular orientation. 

 

 

 

4th Annual Conference

 

Questioning contemporary societies

through the lens of disability

 

 

Paris – France, 2-3 July 2015

 

 

The conference is organised in the context of the annual meeting of Alter, European Society for Disability Research / Société Européenne de Recherche sur le Handicap.

 

Its goal is to offer a European and international multidisciplinary view of disability research, across its whole spectrum, addressing sociohistorical and political dimensions as well as the subjective experience of the actors concerned (disabled persons themselves and those close to them, professionnels of the field and other social and political actor), but also considering disability as a category of analysis likely to shced light on the modes of organisation of contemporary societies.
